‘Railway + air transport’ to help the development of foreign trade in inland provinces

Sichuan is an inland province far from the coastline in western China.In late April, forklift trucks were moving in and out of the Meishan International Railway Port located in the Meishan area of Sichuan's Tianfu New Area, a busy scene.
‘The yuanming powder products we produce are “boarded” onto freight trains from here and exported to Southeast Asia, South America, Africa and other regions via railway and waterways.’ said Duan Yulin, Minister of Foreign Trade of Sichuan Hongya Qingyijiang Yuanming Powder Co.
Yuanming powder is a chemical bulk commodity with the chemical name of sodium sulfate, which is widely used in washing, printing and dyeing, paper-making and other industries.
He Licheng, deputy general manager of Meishan International Railway Port Investment Group Co. Ltd, said that in the first quarter of this year, the number of import and export freight trains running at Meishan International Railway Port increased by 423 per cent compared with the same period of last year, of which those running through the new western land and sea corridor accounted for about 69 per cent.
